ETNA VOLCANO PHOTOS

- Activity in November 2006 (Part 2) - lava sculptures, heat and gasses from a skylight at the 2800 m vent in Valle del Bove (2) -

Glimpses into the furnace and lava sculptures at the 2800 m vent (1 and 7 Nov.)

Filigrane lava needles and crusts of sulphate minerals neat the skylight.

Blurry hot air escaping from the glowing skylight. At a distance of few meters, the radiation heat was almost unbearable. Glowing stalactites at the wall of the skylight.
Escaping gasses and lava needles. The skylight on 7 November; the liquid lava flowing in its tunnel is barely visible to the eye.
Crusts of whitish and yellow sulphate deposits mark the path of the lava tunnel. Glow and hot gas between fractures on the lava tunnel's roof.
