During the night of 31 July - 1st of August, Stromboli's NE crater (left and middle pict.) still displays its continuous glow which indicates that the magma column is virtually filling its conduit to the rim. Yet, it did no longer produce its spectacular explosions as during the preceding period (compare pictures here). Only the easterly vent within the NE crater erupted weakly from time to time (l,m). On the contrary, the NW crater was producing 100-200m high explosions regularly every ca. 20 minutes (right and following pictures).
